Sometimes......

.....tis the simple things that keep the Black dog from my mind, like in the unlit snug watching the flame nymphs dancing on my open fire keeping the winter cold outside where it belongs.

Until the next time, take care...

John

  2. Flames from an open fire can be so soothing. It's one thing I miss from our last home, we only have a flame effect electric fire now. Never mind, it's safer around the GC. Enjoy, John :-)

    1. It's been a long time since I've been able to watch the dance of the flames PP, so the real fire was a positive when I moved into my present abode.

  3. I haven't sat and watched a fire for years. Used to spend hours doing it as a kid ( then again in those days we didn't have the internet :p) It is so beautiful and relaxing.

  6. A nice glass of Malt, a good book and your canine pals lying in front of the dancing flames. Sounds perfect John.

    1. Indeed Dave, but I have to admit that I'm an alcohol free zone at this moment in time.

  7. I don't do open fires anymore as it involved carrying coal etc up stairs and we are both knocking on. lol but do have one of those realistic coal effect log burner things. even so its not the same as a real fire and I do miss it. Soon be Spring, so hold on in there John.

    1. Thank you Briony, it will indeed soon enough be time for lighter nights and the fire nymphs will be dormant for awhile. Already the signs of spring are slowly starting to emerge in the garden with the first of many bulbs that I planted last autumn having the courage to raise their heads and take a peek above the soil line.

    1. Yes they are Robin, time just passes by and thoughts become slowed and more mellow when the fire nymphs dance.

  9. I will keep this one brief ;) I hear you on the mesmerizing effects of flames and the comfort they bestow. My next home will have a river rock chimney and full fireplace where I can loose meself on a cold winters night. For now I click on the Yule log (tis a Canadian thing) and turn up the furnace. Enjoy the warmth John and dream of your bulbs bursting forth.
